10/15/00 13:50 Jeff, I noticed a few more corrections regarding Omnibot 2000 that are not represented on your web site, located at: (http://www.inficad.com/~tvj/jeffbots/omnibot.html) For example: 1) You indicate the Omnibot 2000 could, with the addition of the Tomy OmniSoulPak, feel human emotions such as joy and sorrow. The text goes on to suggest that with this upgrade, Omnibot 2000 would, upon depletion of it's batteries, would continue on to the afterlife where it would see a "highlight reel" of it's life so far. Neither of these indications are in fact true, and Tomy never issued (or planned to issue) any add-on peripheral called the "OmniSoulPak". 2) It is also alleged that the Omnibot 2000 was able to interface with "Roboz", the bright orange robot from the 1980's television show "Riptide" and, through a complicated mechanism, reproduce asexually. This is obviously and patently incorrect. 3) It is also obliquely suggested that through a secret agreement with the United States Army, Tomy developed attachments for the Omnibot 2000 called "Flame Shooting! Eyes" and "Kill Saw! Hands". Although the Mattel toy company and Tomy did collaborate on the "Flame Shooting! Eyes" for a cross licensing agreement via Omnibot 2000 and the "E-Z Bake Oven", it was judged by the quality assurance team at Mattel to be "incredibly unsafe" and "the worst idea, ever" and subsequently shelved after the irst prototype. 4) Although Omnibot 2000 was prominently featured in many of Prince's mid-eighties videos, there is no truth to the long standing rumor that Omnibot 2000, Prince, and Shiela E. were involved in a three-way love triangle. That was a stray rumor created by Sheila E.'s (increasingly desperate for publicity) management team. 5) It is insinuated by your page that Omnibot 2000's remote control could double as a garage door opener, a tv remote, a long range walkie talkie, an electroshock therapy conduit, a holographic projector, and a secret way to control most mammalian zoo animals". In actuality, the control was primarily used to make Omnibot 2000 go forward, back, and turn right and left. Hope this clears some things up! ~Jeff Hobbs Tomy Corp., Product Manager, Entertainment Experience Group (retired)
