Near the end?  This robot is 100% plastic.  The days of metal construction are long behind us.  Despite the cheap materials, the construction of a toy like this is still an engineering feat.  Imagine the machined metal molds required to form the pieces- a lot of thought went into this, not to mention all the other plastic robots of his day.  Two drilling bits replace arms that rotate with the visible gears in his chest.  I like him.  Because he is made in Japan instead of China, he is worth a great deal more.
